Dishonor is a lack or loss of honor or reputation. I did not have a clue as to what was meant by self-honor. I feel as a wife, mother, sister and daughter that these things are unintentionally stripped away from us on a daily basis. Unfortunately it is the world we live in, one that would have women believe that everyone and everything must come before us. If we are fortunate, or unfortunate, to be married, depending on the man, the husband comes first. Most wives are expected to take care of the house and in this day and age, she is also expected to work, take care of the children, and finally herself, if she remembers. I know in some cultures women are treated must worse, in some cases they can’t work or receive an education. But the message still implies that women are less than their male counterparts, that their contribution is less important and devalued. As the role of the mother, much is expected of her with the full sacrifice of self and her personal well-being.
