As a founding board member and executive officer of the Helpful Hands charitable organization in Oviedo, Susan Haines is no stranger to altruism and making a difference in the lives of others. As a woman struggling to over-come a dysfunctional childhood, failed marriages, and life-altering health challenges, she has managed to thrive in the midst of adversity – and she has found a way to give back by sharing her experience with others in her newly released book, Married My Father: Breaking the Cycle.
“This book has been the catalyst for change in my life,” says Susan, who aims to inspire other women to discover self-love and self-empowerment. “I believe readers will see themselves in my story, and it is my hope that they be inspired to take the necessary steps for change in their lives.”
Susan chose to officially launch her book in grand style recently at Tuscawilla Country Club in a benefit event for Helpful Hands, a 501(c)(3) charity working to enhance the quality of life of children and families in our community who are in crisis. Susan shared her personal journey chronicled in her self-help book, while raising funds and awareness for a worthwhile charity. Part of the proceeds from the evening’s book sales were added to funds raised through a silent auction – all in support of the good work of Helpful Hands.
